Rutland Water does not have one universal visitor car park. Sykes Lane, Whitwell, Normanton and Barnsdale serve different parts of the reservoir, while Nature Reserve parking follows separate arrangements.

Normanton LE15 8HD serves Normanton Church, the Fishing Lodge and South Shore. Barnsdale LE15 8AB is a quieter North Shore starting point when open.

Parking for Aqua Park Rutland
Use the active-sports side
Whitwell is the practical parking area for Aqua Park Rutland, watersports and cycling. Do not automatically navigate to Sykes Lane just because it is a major visitor entrance.
Parking and Aqua Park admission are separate. Allow enough time to park, walk to the activity, check in and prepare before a timed session.

Sykes Lane Beach Parking on Busy Days
Rutland Water Beach is at Sykes Lane, postcode LE15 8QL. The beach is seasonal, and the operator warns that this area can become extremely busy in hot weather.

Choose it when the beach is the main reason for the trip. The Visitor Centre and several family facilities are also based here.
Expect overflow
During busy periods, stewards and overflow parking areas may be used. Follow staff directions rather than trying to reach a preferred bay.

The car park being open does not mean the designated bathing area is operating. Check the separate beach schedule before travelling to swim.
Nature Reserve Parking Uses Different Rules
Do not treat Egleton and Lyndon as alternative general leisure car parks. They serve Rutland Water Nature Reserve visitors and have a separate permit system.

Use for the Nature Reserve and Birdwatching Centre. Reserve access requires the appropriate valid permit.
Lyndon
Use for the seasonal Lyndon Nature Reserve visitor area. Check current opening before making it your destination.

Normanton to Sykes Lane
The official accessible-route information describes a route of about 2.3 miles. Most is tarmac, although a section near Normanton Church changes to compacted stone and can be bumpy.
Sykes Lane to Whitwell
An accessible route is also described between Sykes Lane and Whitwell. It is shorter but includes steeper sections, so check the official route details against your visitor’s needs.
