Elounda Water Park and Residence Hotel: check the whole holiday, not only the room price
Elounda Residence Resort & Waterpark is a hillside hotel in Elounda, Crete. Its official website lists a free water park, four-slide pool, children’s water playground, family accommodation, restaurants, kids club, shuttle service and other resort facilities.
For most families, the main decision is not whether the hotel has a water park. Instead, compare the room, board basis, flights, luggage, airport transfer, hillside access and final price together. Then confirm seasonal facilities for your exact travel dates.
Is Elounda Water Park and Residence Hotel worth considering for a family holiday?
It can suit families who want accommodation and water-play facilities in the same resort. The official facilities page lists a free water park, a pool with four slides, a kids pool with water playground, kids club, indoor and outdoor play areas, restaurants, bars and a free shuttle to the main street.
However, there is one important practical issue. The resort sits on a hillside. Therefore, guests who have reduced mobility, use pushchairs or prefer flat resorts should ask about room position and internal transport before paying.
Elounda Water Park and Residence Hotel deals: compare the final holiday price
Elounda Residence prices can vary by travel date, room category, meal plan and booking route. In addition, a package can include flights, luggage and transfers, while a direct hotel rate may cover accommodation only.
Because of that difference, compare like with like. First, choose the exact room that fits your group. Next, match the meal plan. Finally, compare the full payable total rather than a percentage discount.
| Booking route | Useful when | Check before paying |
|---|---|---|
| Direct hotel | You already have flights or want the hotel’s live room inventory. | Board basis, cancellation terms, transfer arrangements and final taxes or charges. |
| Flight-inclusive package | You want transport and accommodation in one booking. | Exact room, baggage, transfers, flight times, meal plan and financial protection. |
| Hotel comparison site | You want to scan several sellers quickly. | Whether every listing is genuinely the same room and meal plan. |
| Voucher or promotion | A verified provider has a code for your exact dates. | Expiry date, exclusions, minimum spend and whether the final price is really lower. |
What should be included in an Elounda Residence holiday deal?
Correct occupancy
Match the room to every person in your booking. Moreover, check whether children use proper beds, sofa beds or other arrangements.
Board basis
All-inclusive, half-board and accommodation-only prices are not directly comparable. Therefore, confirm what food and drink your rate includes.
Flights and luggage
Check flight times and baggage allowance. In particular, family luggage can change the real price of a package.
Airport transfer
Confirm whether your booking includes a shared coach, private transfer or no airport transport. Then budget for any missing journey.
Seasonal operation
The hotel lists the water park as free. However, confirm operation for your dates because weather, season and maintenance can affect facilities.
Cancellation
A cheaper non-refundable booking may be less flexible. Therefore, compare cancellation rules as carefully as the headline price.
Elounda Residence room types for couples, families and larger groups
The official accommodation page lists eight main room categories. Occupancy ranges from two guests in a Double Room to six guests in larger apartments and private-pool villas.
For families, room layout matters as much as floor area. For example, a two-bedroom unit can make bedtime easier than a larger open-plan room. Meanwhile, a private-pool villa changes the holiday style but may also change the price considerably.
| Official room type | Occupancy | Size | Practical fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Double Room | 2 | 18–22 m² | Couples or two-person stays. |
| Premium Double Room | 2–3 | 26 m² | Small families needing more space. |
| One Bedroom Apartment | 2–3 | 27–30 m² | Useful when a separate bedroom or apartment layout matters. |
| Family Apartment | 2–4 | 38 m² | Typical family-of-four option. |
| Two Bedroom Family Apartment | 4 | 37–42 m² | Better separation for children and adults. |
| Grand Two Bedroom Family Apartment | 4–6 | 48–55 m² | Larger families or groups. |
| Premium Maisonette | 2–5 | 52 m² | More space for families of up to five. |
| Two Bedroom Maisonette Villa | 2–6 | 90 m² | Large layout with a private sea-water pool. |
Room names are important when comparing package providers. Therefore, write down the exact official category before you open several booking websites. A generic label such as “family room” may not describe the same accommodation everywhere.
What does the Elounda Residence water park include?
The official facilities page describes a water park with a large swimming pool with jacuzzi, another pool with a combination of four slides, a kids pool with water playground, kids club, open theatre, playground, snack bar and Thalassa bar-restaurant.
Importantly, the official facilities list labels the water park as free. Even so, guests should confirm access arrangements and seasonal opening for their own stay.
Four-slide pool
The official description lists a swimming pool with a combination of four slides.
Kids water playground
A separate kids pool and water playground give younger children another option.
Jacuzzi pool
The water park area also includes a large swimming pool with jacuzzi.
Snack access
The water park area includes a snack bar. However, some items can cost extra depending on your board basis.
Thalassa
The Thalassa bar-restaurant sits in the water park area, which can make longer pool days easier.
Seasonal check
Before travel, confirm daily opening and any maintenance restrictions directly with the resort.
Elounda Residence all-inclusive: what is actually listed?
The official all-inclusive page lists Ariadne main restaurant, Thalassa, Raki Meze, Veghera Main Bar, Thalassa Bar and the Fun Park snack bar. However, timetables can change during the season.
Therefore, do not rely on an old screenshot of restaurant times. Instead, check the programme supplied for your travel dates.
| Venue | Official programme detail | What families should check |
|---|---|---|
| Ariadne | International and Greek buffet, including breakfast and lunch information. | Current meal times and whether your package includes every listed meal. |
| Thalassa | Buffet plus hot and cold snacks; dinner reservation required in advance. | Booking process and seasonal opening. |
| Raki Meze | Cretan themed dinner menu with advance reservation. | Availability and whether your meal plan includes the visit. |
| Veghera Main Bar | Local alcoholic drinks, non-alcoholic drinks, cocktails and ice cream. | Serving times and any limits that apply to your board basis. |
| Thalassa Bar | Local drinks, cocktails and ice cream. | Opening hours during your stay. |
| Fun Park Snack Bar | Drinks, crepes, waffles and packaged ice cream, with some items charged extra. | Which snacks are included and which require payment. |
Kids club, playgrounds and family facilities
The resort lists both indoor and outdoor children’s facilities. These include playgrounds, a play room, kids club, water playground and family animation.
The kids club is especially date-sensitive. The official facilities page lists supervised activities from 15 May until 30 September, six days a week. Meanwhile, shoulder-period access is described differently. Therefore, families travelling in May or October should confirm what will operate.
Kids club
It is located in the water park area. Supervision is seasonal, so check your exact dates.
Indoor play
The play room lists table football, air hockey, pool tables and children’s games.
Outdoor play
Outdoor playground space gives children a dry activity between pool sessions.
Baby cot
The room facilities list a baby cot on request. Therefore, request one before arrival rather than assuming availability.
Babysitter
The facilities page lists babysitting on request with an extra cost.
Family activities
The resort lists animation and sports activities for the whole family six days a week.
Hillside layout, pushchairs and mobility: check this before choosing a room
Elounda Residence is built on a hillside. The elevated setting is part of the resort’s location, but it can also affect everyday movement between rooms, restaurants and pools.
Recent traveller reviews repeatedly mention the steep terrain. Some guests also report using hotel buggies or shuttle support. However, individual experiences vary, and review comments are not a substitute for an accessibility guarantee.
Ask for a suitable room position
Contact the hotel before booking. Explain walking limitations clearly and ask which room categories or locations reduce steep walking.
Consider daily uphill movement
A pushchair can make the slope more noticeable. Therefore, ask about internal transport and route surfaces before you choose a package.
Plan around naps and pool trips
A distant room can mean more uphill travel during the day. Consequently, room location may matter more than a marginal price saving.
Walking can feel harder in summer
Hot weather increases the effort of uphill walking. Therefore, build transport and room position into your decision.
Elounda Water Park Residence Hotel reviews: what recent guests repeatedly mention
Reviews are useful for issues that official facility lists cannot show well, such as room condition, food experience, walking effort and how families use the resort in practice.
However, one review should not decide your holiday. Instead, look for repeated themes across several recent stays and compare those themes with the exact room category you plan to book.
Recent family reviews frequently mention children enjoying the pools and water slides. Therefore, the water facilities appear to be a major reason families choose the resort.
The steep setting is one of the most repeated practical comments. Some travellers are comfortable with it, while others rely more heavily on shuttles or buggies.
Recent reviews do not describe every room in the same way. Some guests praise their accommodation, while others describe older-looking rooms. Therefore, confirm the exact category shown in your booking.
Food feedback is mixed. Consequently, travellers with strong expectations, allergies or specific dietary needs should contact the property directly before travel.
Elounda Residence location, village access and transfer planning
The official facilities page places the resort about 800 metres from Elounda village. It also lists a free shuttle bus service to the main street and back.
Nevertheless, airport travel is a separate question. A hotel-only booking may not include an airport transfer. Therefore, check this before comparing it with a flight-inclusive package.
- Use the full name Elounda Residence Resort & Waterpark when arranging a transfer.
- Confirm which Crete airport your flight uses before pricing ground transport.
- Check whether a holiday package includes coach or private transfer.
- Allow for a late arrival if restaurant service or children’s activities matter on day one.
- Ask the hotel for current shuttle information if you expect to visit Elounda village often.
Which type of Elounda Residence booking may suit you?
Family of four
Start with the Family Apartment and Two Bedroom Family Apartment. Then compare sleeping layout, price and location within the resort.
Family of five or six
Focus on the Grand Two Bedroom Family Apartment, Premium Maisonette or Two Bedroom Maisonette Villa. In addition, confirm the exact bed arrangement.
Travelling with a toddler
Ask about cot availability, room access, slope, kids pool and current kids-club rules. Moreover, consider how often you will move between the room and pool area.
Mobility concerns
Contact the hotel before payment. A room that looks ideal online may still involve routes that do not suit your group.
All-inclusive priority
Read the official all-inclusive programme first. Then compare the package price after checking snack extras and seasonal restaurant timings.
Lowest total price
Compare the final basket, not only the room rate. Flights, bags, transfers, meals and cancellation terms can change which option is cheaper.
How to book Elounda Water Park and Residence Hotel without comparing the wrong deals
Confirm the resort facilities
Start with the official facilities page. Check the water park, pools, kids club, shuttle and any facility that could affect your decision.
Choose the correct room first
Match your group to an official room category. After that, compare prices for the same category rather than a generic “family room.”
Select the board basis
Decide whether you want all-inclusive or another meal arrangement. Then compare only equivalent offers.
Add flights, baggage and transfer costs
A hotel-only rate can look cheaper at first. However, the result can change once transport and baggage are added.
Check the hillside fit
If walking, pushchairs or mobility may be difficult, contact the resort before paying. Ask about room positioning and assistance.
Read current cancellation terms
Compare refundable and non-refundable options. In addition, note deposit and final-balance rules from your booking provider.
Check current reviews by topic
Search recent comments for your room type, food, water park, kids club, slope and cleanliness. Avoid relying on one unusually positive or negative review.
Verify the final booking screen
Before payment, confirm dates, guest names, room, meal plan, luggage, transfers and final total one last time.
Booking mistakes that can make an Elounda Residence deal worse
Comparing different room types
A Double Room and a Family Apartment are not equivalent offers. Therefore, compare exact categories.
Ignoring airport transfers
Hotel-only prices may exclude transport. Consequently, add the full transfer cost before deciding.
Assuming every snack is included
The official programme identifies some extra-charge snack items. Therefore, read the current inclusions carefully.
Forgetting kids-club dates
Supervision is seasonal. As a result, shoulder-season families should verify the programme in advance.
Underestimating the hill
The resort’s slope may matter every day. Therefore, room position and transport support can be important booking factors.
Choosing a voucher before the room
A promotion is not useful if it applies to the wrong accommodation. First choose the room; then apply valid discounts.
Using old restaurant times
The hotel’s all-inclusive page says timetables can vary. Consequently, confirm current service after arrival.
Focusing only on the deposit
A low deposit does not mean a lower total price. Therefore, check the final payable balance and cancellation rules.
